ASCON introduces KOMPAS-3D v25, a new version of our CAD system.
It perfectly suits the needs of manufacturing and high-tech industries. We have added new solid and surface modeling tools. Polygonal modeling is enhanced to better handle reverse engineering processes. The new features and improvements will help automate routine engineering tasks and accelerate large assembly modeling.
Commercial, student, and academic versions of KOMPAS-3D v25 are available.
BASIC 3D MODELING TOOLS
New tools for working with large assemblies will speed up many routine tasks. The new Manage Level of Detail command replaces heavy assemblies with lighter ones or bounding boxes to reduce RAM usage and improve performance. The Projection Depth command makes it easier to study complex drawings by removing “extra” elements from associative views. The alpha testers agreed that this was the feature they wanted most.
The Emboss command is useful for adding text features. It creates embossed or engraved text and logos directly on the model. These features can be applied to multiple faces, both flat and curved.
Now you can select groups of curves and faces with a single click in solid, wireframe, and surface modeling operations. It reduces efforts in the most common operations when multiple objects are selected.
The wireframe and surface modeling tools have also been improved. The Equidistant to Curve command now builds lines along multiple faces. The new Median Line command has been added. The Fillet Surface command now offers new, much-requested options for specifying the surface width and the type of function that governs the shape of the fillet.
The Polygonal Object Segmentation command helps with reverse engineering. A scanned model can now be automatically divided into simple analytical surfaces: flat, cylindrical, spherical, conical, and toroidal.
New component position tools animate component movement and check for collisions to model moving parts and mechanisms.
The Object Symmetry 2D command has been added. Individual or composite objects can now be positioned symmetrically about an axis in a single operation: no multiple constraints required. The functionality for adding linear dimensions with extension lines tangent to circles or arcs has been further expanded. There are no restrictions on zero-length segments, which may occur, for example, after parametric editing.
We have developed a new component for reading UGS/NX, ProE/Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA V5, and Solid Edge proprietary formats. The new component for reading AutoCAD documents (DXF and DWG) has also been developed in-house, replacing third-party solutions.
MECHANICAL ENGINEERING ADD-ONS
Nesting add-on now includes user-suggested features such as support for arbitrarily shaped sheets for better utilization of leftover material. Also, the outlines of sheet metal parts created using the sheet metal modeling tools and/or Equipment: Steel Structures can now be exported for nesting. The improved integration will streamline the entire process from the 3D model to the nesting chart, making it more transparent.
Equipment: Steel Structures add-on now also offers pattern operations: you can create and edit object copies directly in the add-on.
Equipment: Pipelines add-on now has the Pipe Expansion command to model open pipe joints.
The External Flow template in the KompasFlow add-on now supports sector-based simulation setup for faster external aerodynamics simulations of axisymmetric bodies.
