How can I create 3D-text?
Select necessary text in sketch mode, use command “Convert to NURBS” to get contours for further bossing or cutting.
I can’t add one more leader to the arrow
Enable leader editing mode. Disable «Edit branching» button, set another arrow start point, and push «Create object» button.
I can’t delete redundant arrow I’ve entered during leader figuring.
To remove unnecessary arrow during figuring or have been figured before enable Edit branching mode (button “Edit branching” is pushed down) select start point of the arrow, which is necessary to remove, and push “Delete” button on the keyboard.
Impossible to remove branching during editing form tolerance
Select with the cursor a point of the branching exit from the tolerance table (the point becomes green) in tolerance editing mode, push “Delete” button on the keyboard, push “Create object” button.
How to change radii of several circles at once?
Select “Set an equal constraint for the radii” command (Adding Constraints toolbar), step by step point circles, which radii should be equalize. Changes of any circle radius will result in changes in others radii of circles. Figure a diameter dimension to any circle for fine measurement. Input dimension value by double click on dimension nominal.
How to create a number of concentric arcs of equal central angles?
Choose standard way to create an arc by center and two points. Enter center point of the arc, enter initial angle in “a1” field, enter end angle in “a2” field, then push “Remember Status” button. Enter arc radii by the mouse or by numerical values in “rad” field.
What’s the difference between Broken Line and Thin Line styles?
Broken Lines can be included in hatch borders by their determination by selecting a point inside contour; Thin Lines are ignored in this case.
How can I figure a dimension with zero length of shelf leader?
“Auto create” mode should be disabled when dimensioning. After shelf start point is set in dimension parameters, “Leader Length” field would be available; enter zero valuation in this field.
Impossible to create bent leader.
Use “Edit branching” command (the button is situated on special-managing bar) during entering or editing a leader. The command allows entering of leader with any number of Bents.
Extension arc disappears after editing of dimension been entered not from center.
Extension arc will not disappear if the dimension is associated (menu Setup — Settings of Current Fragment/Layout — Adding Constraints — Associate at entry — Dimensions).
Styles, types
I’ve created custom Title Block in Graphic.lyt library. But its name it isn’t displayed in list, when I’m trying to apply it to current drawing. What shall I do?
Title Block is a drawing template component. Create new drawing template in Graphic.lyt library (usually template should have the same name and number as Title Block). Include necessary Title Block in the template and set border parameters. Your custom Title block and Border, with specified parameters will appear on the sheet, when you apply the template.
BOM
How to set a value corresponding the bottom line of the designation in “Quantity” line, during its multiline filling?
Option “Align Single-line Texts at Bottom” should be enabled. The option is customizable for every BOM stile. Enable necessary BOM style editing mode (menu “BOM-Styles setup”), select “Quantity” column, then push “Edit” button. The Option is situated in the bottom of “Column Description” window.
How to reserve positions and space in BOM? It’s possible to skip positions with auxiliary objects now, but they don’t take part in position placing. Otherwise, impossible to hide position number, when inserting basic objects.
You can hide basic object position number with “Do not show position number” option. ("Advanced parameters" command, "Service" menu).
Text input and editing
How to make a fraction become separator during date imputing in Title Block?
Date format, entered in Title Block by “Enter Date” dialog, uses OS settings (Control panel-Language and Regional standards-Date).
How to fill text in specified size?
In dialog “Service-Format” you should make options “Modify Text Width Factor” and “ Modify Line Spacing” active, during text entering. After that set text width and height in proper fields of the same dialog.
Measurement
How to compute MP Calculation of Revolved Solids? Calculation coordinate system is situated in specified point under specified angle at the same time.
Unfix “0” field (CS start point) in object parameters line after entering the command to compute MP Calculation of Revolved Solids in CS with specified start point and specified slope. CS-phantom will be displayed on screen; you should set it in required start point.
Plotting
Some printer models (HP LaserJet 1200 etc) print empty polygons instead of special characters (diameter, degree for example). How to print special characters?
There are two ways to solve the problem, if PCL6 or PCL5e printer driver is installed:
- Set True-type font printing to raster type in the printer settings. For example you should enable “Send TrueType as raster” (Finishing tab-Information) in HP Laser Jet 1200 printer settings.
- Replace Printer driver by PostScript-driver.
How can I precisely combine corners of the drawing in Print preview mode?
In preview-window select command File-Output Settings, enable “Assured Gap between Documents When Snapping On” option, then set necessary meaning. Select the drawing, move cursor towards the corner of the drawing (cursor will look like angle in square). Press mouse left key, and, holding the button, move the drawing towards necessary drawing, until black rectangle appears in cursor trap. Release mouse button. Drawings will be allocated with required spacing.
Is it possible to provide expanding or reducing of drawing field location, during document print preparation?
Components and size of different-size sheets of paper are depend on current printer/plotter features, if “Drawing location field” means sheet of paper size in “Print preview” command. Sheet size can be changed by Plotter/Printer command (menu File) in print preview mode before printing or by “Plotter/Printer Setup” command (menu File) during document creating.
I’m trying to print A4 drawing with laser printer of A4 format. Why does KOMPAS break my drawing to 4 sheets, although all of them can be printed to one sheet?
Real Print area (which exactly used by Output driver) much smaller then A4 standard size. Therefore A4-drawing can’t be wholly printed on A4-paper. There are two ways to solve the problem:
- Scale back print scale (set its value about 0.95);
- Print on 4 sheets and then stick them together.
Impossible to print A0-drawing by Plotter with 1:1 printing scale, although Plotter features allow this.
In print preview mode enter the Plotter settings and set custom paper size so the printing area would be larger then standard A0-size (1189x841) before printing. Plotter driver is usually set printing area to the difference between paper size and unprintable areas.
Import/export
There are foreign characters in the text during importing MS DOS text file into KOMPAS-Graphic text document.
There are executive characters in the source text. Delete executive characters in the source file or directly in KOMPAS-Graphic with command Edit-Replace.
KOMPAS options, system
We use two KOMPAS net-Hasps at once. Licenses aren’t released sometimes.
Problems of non-releasing of licenses are possible in LAN with two or more different net-Hasps, after closing KOMPAS-session. Only the last obtained license net-Hasp would be released. For example license on product A from HASP 1 is being obtained during KOMPAS start, then on product B from HASP 2. After KOMPAS-session closed license on product A would be locked.
To solve the problem it is necessary to prevent obtaining licenses from different net-Hasp during one KOMPAS-session. It is necessary to relink license lists in net-Hasps and/or adapt INI-files in order that one workstation should call only one net-Hasp.
Properties bar has jumped in pop-up mode. How to disable this mode in order to set Properties bar always visible on screen?
To disable this mode do the following: When Properties bar pop-ups, move cursor to vertical line in the left side of the bar (line is displayed by dots, strokes or solid line, depending on “Application Look” settings) – cursor will become four-way arrow, push right mouse button then click on “Minimize” option in context menu.
We have 10 licenses of KOMPAS-Graphic and one of KOMPAS-3D on a HASP. Message “DEMO” is often shown during KOMPAS-3D start.
KOMPAS-3D license is obtained with KOMPAS-Graphic license during KOMPAS start on machine with KOMPAS-3D system installed. In the case when each computer has KOMPAS-3D installed modelling would be available only on computer started first. To solve the problem: install KOMPAS-3D on one computer only; install only KOMPAS-Graphic on the rest.
How to use Hardware keys (HASP)
Hardware key memory corruption (the key became unrecognizable). Printer is connected via the key.
Possible cause — printer and computer don’t have common ground bus and plugged to outlets with different phasing. Possible consequences causes not only hardware key malfunction.
Solution: all equipment should be plugged to the same outlet and have common ground bus.
HK malfunction after printer interface cable was connected.
Difference of electric potential caused HK-failure. This problem is possible in following cases:
- Printer and computer were turned on during interface cable connection to hardware key moment.
- Printer was turned off but its power cord was plugged to outlet without common to computer ground bus.
Solution: All of peripheral items to be connected to Hardware key (not only printers) should be plugged off from the power and have common to computer ground bus (to prevent difference of electric potential). For example, computer and peripheral should be plugged to the same surge suppressor ("Pilot").
Do I need to install HASPNet on the network file server?
No. You can install the HASPNet key and the HASP License Manager on any station
in the network. The designated station must be active and the HASP License Manager
loaded for as long as any application protected with HASP4 Net is running.
How can I understand whether HASP-driver is already installed or not?
Run histall.exe /info in command line or click Start/All Programs/ASCON/KOMPAS-
3D Vx/Protection key programs/Information about protection key driver. You will see
the driver version, the date of its installation and some other useful information.
Can I see which stations are accessing a HASPNet key?
Yes. The Aladdin Monitor utility shows you all the stations activating an application
that has performed a HASPNet login to the HASP License Manager. Install the utility
form dictribution disk (support\hasp\Hasp_utils\Aladdin\Monitor\aksmon.exe) or click
Start/AllPrograms/ASCON/KOMPAS-3D Vx/Protection key programs/Protection key
monitor.
Can I connect several HASP-keys to the same machine?
Every HASP-key has so called vendor code. Only keys with different vendor codes
can be connected to the same computer. JSC ASCON's verdor code is GQEZQ.
If I connect two HASP Net010 keys of the same vendor code to a single station,
will I receive 10 licenses?
No. When two HASPNet keys with the same vendor code are connected to the same
computer, only one HASPNet key responds. To enable 20 licenses with two HASP
Net010 keys, connect each key to a separate station and run the correct HASP
License Manager. Alternatively, use a HASPNet50 key.
My customer already has a HASPNet from another software vendor connected to
a station on the network and a HASP License Manager loaded. What must be
done to install the HASPNet key, provided by JSC ASCON?
All your customer needs to do is connect ASCON HASPNet key to the same
computer. The already loaded HASP License Manager serves both HASPNet keys.
You need just keep in mind that KOMPAS calls for the certain version of HASPdriver.
Will HASPNet work over the Internet?
Yes. HASPNet works over the Internet with TCP/IP.
When using HASPNet, on which station do I need to install the HASP device
driver?
You are to install HASP-driver of the appripriate version on all the stations, where
KOMPAS has been installed and on the station, where HASP License Server will be
running.
Can I start several HASP License Managers using NetBIOS-protocol in the same
network?
Remember that NetBIOS support is now discontinued, but still you can do this:
- load each license manager in command line as haspserv -nbname=name,
and state a different NetBIOS-name for each of these license managers (or
state these names in nhsrv.ini-files).
- state the appropriate NetBIOS-name of license manager in NetHASP-client
configuration files nethasp.ini.
There are two HASP license managers in the network, each of them serves its
own HASPNet key form one and the same vendor. How can I prevent licensestealing
between them?
You need to limit the stations range for every license manager (see “Total_HASP”,
chapter “Adapting HASPNet to the network”).
Can HASP License Manager release a license automatically?
Yes. HASP LM Log Table keeps information about all the stations logged in. If some
station does not communicate with this HASP LM for the predefined period of time,
this station will be logged out automatically. The predefined period for KOMPAS V8
Plus is 36 hours, the predefined period for KOMPAS V9 is 80 minutes.
HASP-driver installation under Windows NT/2000/XP fails
Sometimes config.nt is set to ReadOnly. Change this mark and try again.
HASP-key is not found (for all Operating Systems, HASP-driver has been
installed)
Two variants are possible:
- a defective key;
- a defective port.
Test this key on other machines. If this key works well on some other machine, the port
is defective. If the key appears lifeless on other machines, it is defective, and you
should substitute it.
HASP-key can not be found periodically. If you touch the key, it contacts well.
There are two possible reasons for it.
- outworn slot – in this case replace the slot;
- some spoilage in this key-connector - in this case replace the key;
- something foreign in the key-connector - in this case clean it out.
HASP License Manager is not found. Protocol NetBios (NetBeui)
There are two possible reasons:
- HASP License Service and NetHASP-client belong to different network
segments. In this case you should use a routing-supported protocol (TCP, IPX,
NetBios under IPX).
- There are two enabled protocols on the machine - NetBeui and IPX over
NetBios. You should either disable NetBeui protocol or disable NetBiossupporting
in IPX-protrocol.
HASP License Manager is not found. Protocol TCP/IP. Dynamic IP-addressing is
used.
The HASP License Manager installed machine must have static IP-address.
While loading HASP LM for Novell (haspserv.nlm) reports that SAP has been
enabled and address file haspaddr.dat can not be created. As a result no station
can find license manager.
This problem appears while trying to use SAP on a server with non-437 code page
supporting (as a rule 866 code page is used). In this case HASP License Server can
not work at all – broadcast and nosap methods do not work either. The reason for this
problem is not revealed yet. There are two possible reasons:
- load haspserv.nlm with –saptofile. In this case you will be able to use broadcast
and nosap methods;
- change the server code page to 437.
HASP LM for Novell (haspserv.nlm) can not be customize to using TCP/IP
protocol
To use TCP/IP protocol for HASP LM you are to install it on Win32-platform machine,
working under Windows OS. HASP License Manager for Novell do not support TCP/IP
protocol.
HASP License Manager can not be found. Its protocol relates to network adapter
and to remote access controller in addition
There are two possible solutions:
- relate remote access control to some other protocol or disable it at all;
- search for the HASP LM through some other protocol, which is not related to the
remote access controller.
